- Creating A Donation
Step 1: Click Post a Donation
- Click “Post a Donation” in either the quick actions menu or the upper right navigation bar.
Step 2: Select Location
- Choose an address from your organization account.
- If you need to add a new address, click the add option.
Step 3: Delivery Information
- Indicate whether you can deliver the donation (up to 60 miles).
- Specify if dock height/food grade vehicle is required (only check this for palletized products that need special transportation).
Step 4: Set Availability
- Choose your availability window (defaults to five days).
- For shelf-stable or frozen items, you can extend this window.
- Enter your hours of operation (e.g., 12 PM to 6 PM).
Step 5: Enter Donation Details
- Create a descriptive title for your donation.
- Add each item:
- Select food type from the dropdown (or search by typing).
- Enter the use-by date (defaults to the last available day).
- Input the weight.
- Add a description (required for prepared meals).
- Itemizing products separately is preferred but not required.
Step 6: Upload Image
- Choose an image that represents your donation.
Step 7: Review and Post
- Review your donation details, including:
- Categories
- Title
- Availability window
- Use-by date (shows the earliest expiration)
- Weight
- Check how many potential recipients are in your area.
- Agree to the Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act.
- Click “Post” to publish your donation.
