Your financial support has empowered FoodRecovery.org to recover over 54 million pounds of food and supplies nationwide so far in 2025. Last year, over 81 million pounds were recovered, providing an estimated 67.5 million meals to families in need. 

Based on our operating budget for 2024, 1 dollar spent at FoodRecovery.org translates to 66 pounds of food donated.

FoodRecovery.org addresses hunger and food waste by leveraging technology and community partnerships to donate food to those who need it most. Operating at the intersection of hunger, sustainability, and tech, we believe nutritious meals should never go to waste when neighbors are in need.

Our vision is to create a world where surplus food consistently and efficiently reaches communities experiencing food insecurity: one meal, one partnership at a time, all while reducing waste in landfills and protecting the planet.

Why Donate Food?

Because, in 2023, 13.5% of U.S. households i.e. 18 million families faced food insecurity. That’s roughly 1 out of every 7 households. (Source: USDA, Food Security Status of U.S. Households in 2023). At the same time, more than 27% of surplus food is thrown away (Source: ReFED).

Remember, behind these numbers are parents skipping meals, seniors choosing between groceries and medicine, and children going to bed hungry, underscoring the urgent need for solutions. 

This is the gap FoodRecovery.org is working to close by redirecting surplus food into the hands of families who need it most.
